The last grade of the quarter will be the unit test. Students will go over the structure and scope of the test on Tuesday/Wednesday, October 25/26. Anyone who misses class on those days or wants to hear the listening again for practice can download the audio files for Ex. A and Ex. C below (along with a new copy of the review).
My Spanish I students have until Tuesday, October 25, at 4:30pm to turn in or make up the following assignments for late credit:
Project 2 (redo for higher grade or turn in)
Instructions for the project are below. Copies of classworks may be picked up in room 122 from the red-lettered folders during your class or before/after school. Students may also email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if they cannot access their Powerschool account.
Spanish I students will have a performance task once a quarter that is worth a test grade.
The performance task for Unit 1 is a letter to a penpal. Full instructions are in the first file below. Students are writing the rough draft in class on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 17-18. The final draft will be written in class on Friday and Monday, October 21 and 24. A student who is absent the day of the rough draft should make arrangements with Ms. Sudderth to come before or after school before Friday, Oct. 21. A student who is absent the day of the final draft should come before/after school ASAP next week.
I am working my way through the nations posters and some grades are in Powerschool. I am seeing a large number of students who did not follow directions on this assignment (attachment below). Students will be given through October 24 to redo/amend/turn in this assignment for an improved grade.
The most common problems included:
- failure to cite sources for information and pictures (Google DOES NOT COUNT - it's a search engine, not a source)
- failure to include pictures/illustrations of people/foods/sports
- failure to WRITE ALL INFORMATION IN SPANISH. The instructions below have the sentences already structured for you.
- failure to include all information listed in instructions
I intend to have the rest of these graded by Tuesday afternoon. You do not have to wait on a grade in Powerschool to fix the problems.
Spanish I will have their third quiz on Thursday/Friday, October 13-14. The focus is on listening, the vocabulary for classroom objects, and adjectives to describe a person. The practice quiz from Tuesday and Wednesday's classes is below along with another copy of the unit vocabulary if you have lost your yellow list.
Mrs. Sudderth is a Spanish teacher at Jordan High School in Durham, NC.
