Below are the files for Project 5, the questions review, and Classwork 17, the verb chart for the unit. Project 5 should have been completed in class by Monday, January 29. The question review is to be completed in class Tues./Wed. January 30-31. The verb chart is due Thurs./Fri/ Feb. 1-2.
With the beginning of the third quarter we are beginning Unit 3. This unit concentrates on activities and pastimes, likes and dislikes, and more verbs. We learn weather terms, how to enhance verbs with helping verbs, and making sentences negative.
The vocabulary for the unit is below.
Students should have shown their work for credit for Classwork 14 and Quiz 9 by now. We did Project 5 in class January 24-29. The next quiz will cover the verbs on the first page of the unit vocabulary.
Weekly Edmodo quizzes continue. The quizzes go up Monday and come down the following Sunday and practice current grammar and vocabulary. Students are encouraged to use their notes to help them complete the "quizzes" accurately.
The presentation task for the unit will take place at the end of February. Students will have multiple days in class to prepare it but should also work on it at home. They should practice so they can present in Spanish without reading the text on the screen or poster..
The instructions and questions are below. You are on your honor to use only your notes/vocabulary lists. If it looks like you used Google Translate, you will not receive credit for this assignment.
Choose four family members (choosing yourself is not an option) and write a paragraph about each one. Write at least six sentences per person and include the following information:
¿Cómo se llama?
¿Qué parentesco tiene contigo? (What is their relationship to you?)
¿De dónde es?
¿Cómo es? Descríbele.
¿Cuántos años tiene?
¿Cuándo es su cumpleaños?
My internet has been down for several days and has been in and out today. I am trying to get grades in as I have access.
Please note the following: if you have a zero for either Composition 2 or Project 4, you have one last chance to get those to me on Monday morning, January 22 (leave it in the purple folder on my door if you arrive late).
If you received a failing grade on Project 4, it was almost certainly because you did not include any of the written Spanish that was required. Please follow the instructions here for the paragraph and labeling the rooms/furniture. If you turn this in on Monday morning, I will adjust your grade.
Instructions for Composition 2
Students who were absent Friday, January 12, need to get in touch ASAP about any missing work from Quarter 2.
The first grades for Quarter 3 will be Classwork 14 and Quiz 9.
Classwork 14 is the first document below - it was done and checked in class Friday/Tuesday, January 12 & 16.
Students have through Friday, January 12, 2018, to turn in the following assignments:
Performance Task 2 (scroll down for instructions)
Project 4 (scroll down for instructions)
Composition 2 (see Ms. Sudderth before/after school Friday to complete this)
Quizzes 6-7 (see Ms. Sudderth before/after school Friday to complete these)
Quiz 8 (scroll down for instructions)
Classwork 13 (scroll down for instructions)
Edmodo Quiz 17
Students have through Sunday, January 14, to complete Edmodo Quiz 18.
Students who were absent during this week/missed the unit test need to contact me by email ASAP to arrange making up these assignments.
If you were absent Monday/Tuesday, January 8-9, you missed the review for the unit test Wednesday/Thursday, January 10-11. YOU ARE EXPECTED TO TAKE THE TEST IN CLASS WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY WHETHER YOU WERE HERE THE CLASS BEFORE OR NOT - you have known your test day since early last week. The practice is below, along with the Unit 2 vocabulary. Print it out and complete pages 2-3. I am available after school Tuesday/Wednesday if you want to come by and practice the listening sections on page 1.
Students were given the verb chart to practice the present tense of Unit 1/Unit 2 verbs in December. Those that turned it in received it back in class January 8-9 with errors highlighted. Students have through Friday, January 12, to redo the chart and correct the errors. It will be graded for accuracy as well as completion. The chart is available below to download and print out and a copy of the grammar notes that go over conjugating the verbs is also available below. Students may also check their work online through wordreference.com (click on the link that says "conjugation").
If you were in class January 2-3, you received this printed on green paper. For students who were absent, either print off the first file below or see me ASAP for a copy. It is to be completed in two stages: Stage 1 is filling in the English for the words you remember and Stage 2 is looking up the words you don't. Use different color pens/pencil vs. pen/etc. to show yourself the words you need to study before the Unit 2 test on January 10. You must show this to me completed in class Thursday/Friday if you were here. If not, you must be prepared to show it to me Monday, January 8 (before school if you don't have my class that day) for the quiz grade.
The second quarter ends on January 12, which is a week earlier than we are used to. Students need to communicate with teachers immediately on deadlines and expectations.
Spanish I will have a take-home quiz in the form of a vocabulary review. They will begin the assignment in class on Tuesday/Wednesday, January 2-3, and are expected to show the completed list to Ms. Sudderth on Thursday/Friday, January 4-5. A student who is absent on January 4-5 must either send pictures/scans to Ms. Sudderth of the completed assignment before Monday, January 8 or come by Ms. Sudderth's room to show it to her that morning.
There are two Edmodo "quizzes" left in the quarter. Edmodo Quiz 17 is up and must be completed on or before Sunday, January 7. Edmodo Quiz 18 will go up January 8 and students have until Sunday, January 14, to complete it. Students should remember to use their notes and go slowly enough to ensure that they are getting the correct answer.
The Spanish I Unit 2 test will be on Wednesday/Thursday, January 10-11. It will include listening, reading, grammar, and vocabulary and cover vocabulary on family/the house, conjugating verbs, and the verb "gustar". A practice test will be posted on this website by the end of the week. If a student is absent on their test day, they must do everything possible to make it up on or before January 12.
Students have until Friday, January 5, to make up the performance task. They have until Friday, January 12, to make up Quizzes 6 and 7, Project 4, and Composition 2.
